Alex Ackfun is the General Manager of Indigenous Services in the Department of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Land Services, a position which he has held since July 2005. Alex has the responsibilities in this position to lead and manage units tasked with strategic policy development in Indigenous natural resource management; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Heritage; Indigenous engagement and community; special projects involving reviews of the Aboriginal Land Act 1991 and Torres Strait Islander Land Act 1991. He is a current member of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects’ National Indigenous Housing Taskforce and is an adjunct associate professor in the School of Geography, Planning and Architecture, University of Queensland.
Alex holds a Bachelor of Business (B.Bus) from the University of Southern Queensland and a Masters (Executive Masters in Public Administration – EMPA) through the Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG) and Griffith University, Queensland.
