School of Architecture

The EAIT Scholars program provides the Faculty's top students in architecture, engineering and technology programs with enhanced academic, industry and cultural experiences, in preparation for long-term leadership positions.

Our Architectural Design students in the program are Birrell Scholars, named in honour of James Birrell and his long-standing relationship with Queensland architecture and the University.

Birrell Scholars are provided with opportunities to connect with the architectural profession and enrich their learning experiences. In 2017, Birrell Scholars gained valuable industry experience as interns in a wide variety of local practices, from Vokes & Peters to global firms such as Woods Bagot.

Birrell Scholars also visited the HASSELL Studio, where architects from local practices joined them to share their career experiences. During the afternoon, students had the opportunity to present their recent design work, discuss employment opportunities and learn more about the participating practices.
