    UQ Open Day is your chance to get a feel for what it’s like to be a UQ student. At our Open Day you can speak with staff, take a campus tour and attend information sessions about studying and life at UQ.

  • Paul Hotston, Russell Hall & Silvia Micheli

    Monday 23 July 2018 6:00pm to 8:00pm

    Join multi-award winning architects Paul Hotston and Russell Hall with UQ Architecture Lecturer Dr Silvia Micheli discussing Urban Built: Modern Architecture in West End. In West End just over 50% of the dwellings are standalone houses and 37% are higher density residential properties, including multi-storey blocks of apartments and units. Paul, Russell and Silvia discuss several of the recent architectural additions to the suburb and the ever-changing streetscape.

  • CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COURSE

    Monday 23 July 2018 9:00am to 5:00pm

    This one-day continuing professional development course will introduce participants to computational design strategies for cutting-edge timber building technologies, including digital fabrication of integral timber joints and end-to-end digital design workflows for timber plate structures.

  • Friday 20 July 2018 2:00pm to 3:30pm

    The 3MT Three Minute Thesis Competition is among the regular features of the UQ Campus. As an academic competition, the 3MT challenges PhD students to describe their research within three minutes to a general audience. It celebrates the discoveries made by research students and encourages their skill in communicating the importance of research to a broader community.

    In this presentation, architects Kim and Monique Baber of Baber Studio will speak about the influence of Gaston Bachelard's famous work The Poetics of Space (1958) and other literary sources, including David Malouf's 12 Edmondstone Street, on their designs.
