School of Architecture

Thursday 30 November 2017

Preparation is underway for the end of year exhibition, eMbARCH 2017, which will open early next week.

"The eMbARCH exhibition is the most important event in the School’s calendar, bringing together students, practitioners and academic staff. It provides an opportunity for the Brisbane architectural community to review the work of our graduates in an atmosphere of celebration. It's great to have the support of many like minded firms supporting the school's exhibition this year," Dean and Head of School Sandra Kaji-O'Grady said.

"This year's design studios demonstrate the depth and diversity in our school with projects engaging the local and the global, the suburban and the intensely urban and deploying the full gamut of technologies. You will see structures crafted out of traditional materials such as timber as well as presentations using digital dilm and virtual reality," she said.

"Our students are proving agile across media and modalities, and their openness to experimentation will stand them in good stead for a future about which the only certainty is that their creativity will be surely needed," Sandra said.

This year, the eMbARCH exhibition showcases proposals from our seven Masters design studios, and a range of exemplary work from across the Bachelor of Architectural Design degree. Platinum sponsor Cox Architecture has again come on board with their generous support, to ensure the end of year exhibition is a highlight of the year.

"It is vital we all advocate for our profession and create a network and culture that is inclusive and supportive. We must work collaboratively to create and maintain durable, liveable and highly resilient cities of the future that the world demands," said Director of Cox Architecture Christina Na-Heon Cho.

Contributing partners include Platinum Sponsors - Cox Architecture; Gold Sponsors - Blight Rayner, BVN, Populous, rothelowman, nettletontribe, Woods Bagot, Loucas Zahos and Silver Sponsors - bureau^proberts, m3architecture and naturform.

The eMbARCH 2017 exhibition will officially open on Tuesday 5 December at 6pm and run until Friday 8 December. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
